Scrooge Owens Makes an Impact with “I Don’t Talk Too Much” Produced by DJ Pain 1

Scrooge Owens

Bronx native Dayshawn “Scrooge Owens” grew up surrounded by musical geniuses within his family, which sparked a natural appreciation and curiosity. Owens lost his father at an early age and credits his uncle for raising him to be the man he is today, which is reflective throughout his music. “When I was younger, I sang in the church choir with my grandmother and was in a group with my brother and dabbled in deejaying as well.”

Owens spent 8 years incarcerated in federal prison, at one point even facing the death penalty. Upon his release and returning home vowed to further his musical talents and pursue a career. He linked with an established DJ who took him under his wing and taught him the business side of booking and promotion. After some time, Owens branched out on his own both as artist and booking agent. “I made myself the headliner of shows and I’ve had the opportunity to book major artists including Jada Kiss, Smif-N-Wessun, A-F-R-O, Craig G, and Mr. Cheeks just to name a few.”

That experience opened a plethora of doors and outlets for Owens. He released several series of “King of NY” mixtapes and held monthly events for local artists to come out and showcase their talents and network with major artists and industry professionals. However, NY wanted more from Owens, they wanted more of his voice and story. The Bronx heavyweight was featured on R.A. The Rugged Man’s tour throughout NY, PA, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and more. Once he landed back home he gave NY just what they were asking for and performed at some of the most prestigious venues including SOB’s, Highland Ballroom, Tavern Lounge, and Emporium. “I’m hands on and wear many hats. I’m known throughout the boroughs as esteemed videographer, promoter, artist, manager, and label owner.”

Owens story can be seen on esteemed media and press outlets such as Hip-Hop Forever and his music can be heard on major FM, internet, and Sirius XM radio both domestically and internationally. Some of those stations include Rap Attack with DJ Nasty Nes (charted No.3 on college radio), nationally syndicated Battlezone Radio 90.1FM with Digital Al, Bushwick Bullie & DJ Droop of Phuckoutthere Radio, Beat Box Radio, The Ryan Show, The Blazing Flame Radio, Wednesday Wreck 90.9 FM, and Platinum Radio.

Owens continues to make respected strides in the music industry while pushing his name to the forefront of Hip-Hop. “Collaborating with Mr. Cheeks and A-F-R-O on a track, being featured on a podcast with R.A. The Rugged Man and Travis McCoy and having the opportunity to be interviewed by DJ Premier and other renowned DJ’s on Shade 45 like DJ Eclipse of Rap Is Outta Control, is just the beginning, so stay tuned.”

To date, Owens is polishing up his new mixtape “The Old Me” and forthcoming album ‘Dreams Of My Father.’ He is also in the midst of bringing his roster of artists and promotional talents to Romania, with Matei Panchios. When he returns to the States, Owens will be full throttle in the studio working on new music. His latest album ‘Growth’ is buzzing headlines around the world and being spun on major radio.
