BAY AREA, CA – For as long as Krista Cruz can remember, music has been her main driving passion. There’s never been a moment in her life when she thought music wouldn’t be a part of it. And though the road to becoming a solo recording artist has been a winding one, she is proud of where her dedication has brought her and she’s excited about the next chapter in her journey.

That next chapter began July 31 with the release of her new single “Need Ya,” which is currently available everywhere. Krista Cruz is ready to showcase what she’s been working on these past few months. “Need Ya” is a song that she said not only announces her music to the world but also connects with everyone in a way that encourages them to be independent, embrace who they are and stand up for themselves.

“It’s a kind of song that says the only thing anyone might need from their partner is physicality,” Cruz said. “I would describe it as an empowerment song that makes you feel good and sexy. It’s R&B with a twist of an upbeat tempo.”

Cruz said “Need Ya” is only a teaser of the forthcoming remix and visual featuring Show Banga. Her plan is to continue to drop singles through this year.

Cruz said she feels like her music and her charisma fall in line with a new wave of musicians who are experimenting with R&B and hip-hop in new and interesting ways. More than anything, she said she hopes her music gives people good vibes – as it does for her.

She was born into a musical family – her great-uncle Sonny Cruz was an original member of Jr. & His Rhythm Boys of Hayward, Ca. “Now, being from the Bay Area and living in one of the world’s biggest melting pots has definitely shaped me morally, “spiced up my lifestyle” and aided my songwriting along the way.” She also grew up in a household that played oldies every Sunday, this gives her music this old school feel. “Need Ya” was even inspired by Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam, Full Force’s “I Wonder If I Take You Home.”

She has always been encouraged by those around her to pursue music. “So I finally decided, I’m gonna invest in myself and my music,” she said. “This is something that’s in me, music is my outlet.”
